About the Speaker: Michael Johnston, Director of Research & Innovation Michael dreams of a time when computers can communicate as naturally as humans, using speech and language, coordinated with other natural modalities such as touch and gesture. Before joining Interactions, Michael explored different facets of this vision at Apple Computer, Brandeis University, Oregon Graduate Institute, and AT&T Labs Research. He has over 80 technical publications and over 60 patents covering key algorithms and applications in speech, language, and multimodal processing and served as editor and chair for the W3C EMMA multimodal standard. He currently serves as Director of Research and Innovation for Interactions Corporation with a focus on machine learning, conversational AI, and synergistic fusion of human and artificial intelligence.
